There are few things more inspiring in this world then the view that you get standing on the top of a tall mountain. This is a chance to see just how vast our planet is and take a minute to really enjoy the beauty and the serenity of it all. If you're someone who could use a new perspective on the world then you might consider taking a trip to the Altai or Sayan Mountains in East-Central Asia. This region is full of forests, lakes and meadows as well as the mountains themselves and if definitely worth learning more about.
Altai means Golden Mountain in the Turkic and Mongolian languages that are spoken in this region. This range is on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites and includes places like Lake Teletskoye and the Ukok Plateau. This is a region that is preserving many endangered animals and is one of the most important sections of vegetation in all of central Siberia.
The Sayan Mountains are located between northwestern Mongolia and southern Siberia. This region is more than one thousand kilometers long and meets the Altai Mountains to the east. One of Siberia's main rivers, the Yenisei River, has its origins in this range and there are lots of lakes between the high peaks. This is also a primary region for the conservation of several animals, including the snow leopard and the world's largest wild sheep.
The Altai-Sayan ecoregion is described as one of the last remaining areas of the world that is still untouched by any sort of human development. It has two of the world's longest rivers and more than two hundred endangered and rare forms of plant life. We want to tell you about all of the wonders of this region and all of the things that you might see if you were to visit here. We also want to open your eyes to a little bit more about the countries that these mountain ranges are located in.
You can't really talk about this gorgeous and untouched section of the world without talking a little bit about the environment as a whole. Here we can see the potential of Mother Nature to create and thrive but there are many things that we as humans are doing to stifle that throughout the planet. This region needs to be an area of conservation but still experiences things like poaching and deforestation. We will talk about all kinds of environmental issues that may be impacting this area and the rest of the world.
Whether you're interested in getting away from the stresses of the modern world for a week or are an avid climber and are looking for a new adventure, we can tell you all about this region. Come back often and you will only find more reasons why you might want to hop on a plane and head for northern Asia for your next vacation.
